Its now official : We are out of IPv4

Thirty years after its creation, the supplyof IPv4 officially ran dry today.Every device connecting to the Internet,is assigned a "unique" number. With millions of Internet enabled phones and growing use in Asia they are  fast running out.

IP addresses act as "phone numbers" to ensure that an individual reaches a website and e-mails find their destination.Set-up in 1980s,with a maximum of 4.1 billion,no one supposed them to be running out.

But theres no need to worry about. The new versions of Internet addresses IPv6 will replace IPv4.For most, the switch would go unnoticed. There are 340 undecillion IPv6 adresses available, thats 340 trillion, trillion, trillion addresses.

Curan, the CEO of the American Registry for Internet numbers says we don't ever intent to see any transition.

Laptops,Smartphones and other web-enabled Gadgets,as well as Web browsers, already support IPv6,though Curan notes that less than 1 percent of Internet users may not have their equipment configured properly.
