P0rn sites have now got their top-level domains.URLs having a .xxx domain will have adul+ content which has to be verified not to be illegal.The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), a non-profit organisation approved .xxx as a top level domain on Friday after a long battle which started long ago in 2003.
The Free Speech Coalition, a team representing the adult entertainment industry, also opposes the .xxx domain.The group said that if .xxx is approved, "domains will cost adul+ website operators millions annually in unnecessary fees; will make adul+ websites easier to block by governments and other anti-adul+ entities; and could needlessly fragment the Internet."
ICM Registry and its CEO, Stuart Lawley,says 200,000 applications have been submitted to the company for registrations on the .xxx domain which will be charged $60 per year.
For those unhappy with this decision,he said this will make it more easier as parents can easily block access to the content.Further he said it will be easy for Web Filtering softwares to block ".xxx" as these sites were classified as P0rn.
Lawley said .xxx domains should be up and running by summertime.
